PANEL:  INVESTIGATING CORRUPTION IN THE WORLD’S BIGGEST ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY:  SPORTS

Andrew Jennings cries “foul” in the shady side of the sports world. He specializes in investigations that last many years and penetrate major organizations, such as FIFA, to reveal institutionalized corruption. Jennings discusses ways to conduct long-term probes into the sports industry. He shares his decade-long experience of investigating the International Olympic Committee.

Jennings criticizes the practices of sports reporters. He says many reporters who cover the Europe-based big federations often do not know how to do a Freedom of Information search, ask a source for documents, or even get a source. Jennings explains that sports story coverage is important because it involves global sponsors, the people’s passion, and spineless politicians.”

The award-winning author of numerous books says a criminal trial scheduled for later this year in Switzerland will “name ‘n’ shame” three decades of bribes to top sports officials.
